Bethany
My eldest daughter is Bethany, and her younger years can be found in her website. She was born 10th Feb 1999, following an emergency caesarean. Going by her growth at each scan, we were expecting her to be a fair size, but she was a tiny 5lb 15.5oz.
As I lay there recovering from the shock of the operation, Glen wandered over and told me that she had a little problem with her feet, and would just need a little physio. As it was, she had talipes (clubfoot), for which she needed surgery at 9 months.. her journal is in my clubfoot site.
During those early days, however, I wasn't at all concerned. I was just overwhelmed by having my own little daughter with me. She spent most of her first few days cuddled up with me, and it was lovely. I guess you could even see it as a benefit of a section.. I was in no hurry to get up, and could spend time just cuddling. :)
Anyhow, with no warning at all, the time has flown past, and that tiny bundle is now a big 8 year old! The only effect of the clubfoot is a difference in shoe size. She loves running, judo and football, so it hasn't held her back!
With people that she doesn't know, Bethany is shy and quiet. With her friends, however, she's a different person. As I said before, she gets that side of her from her mum! ;)
Beth has never been one for really playing with toys.. she prefers drawing, writing and reading. She's just started year four at school, and is doing really well. She gets great reports, and is on the top tables in class. What makes it great is that she 'likes' learning.. I don't have to push her into it. :)
So that's my biggest 'baby'.. for more photos, visit my Flickr page.
